How to Use

  2. Input cyclic stress amplitude (MPa), mean stress, and cycle frequency (Hz) for fatigue analysis

Worked Example

Aluminum 6061-T6 connecting rod under cyclic loading: Ultimate tensile strength = 310 MPa, endurance limit = 96 MPa, applied stress amplitude = 120 MPa, mean stress = 40 MPa. Using Goodman diagram correction: corrected endurance limit = 68 MPa. Result: component fails at approximately 45,000 cycles. Without mean stress consideration, prediction would incorrectly suggest 200,000+ cycles, demonstrating critical importance of stress state analysis for automotive engine components.
