How to Use

  1. Select energy source type (lithium-ion battery, monocrystalline solar panel, horizontal-axis wind turbine, or PEM fuel cell) from the cat-filter dropdown
  2. Input system parameters: battery capacity (kWh), solar irradiance (W/m²), wind speed (m/s), or fuel cell pressure (bar); operating temperature (°C); and load profile duration (hours)
  3. Run simulation to generate efficiency curves, state-of-charge trajectories, or power output graphs; export results as CSV for thermal analysis or grid integration studies

Worked Example

EV battery pack charging simulation: 75 kWh LiFePO4 battery at 30°C ambient, 11 kW AC charger input. Simulator calculates 87% round-trip efficiency, predicts 2.1% capacity fade over 500 cycles at 80% depth-of-discharge, and outputs time-to-80%-SOC of 41 minutes. Compare against NCA chemistry (91% efficiency, 1.8% fade) to validate thermal management requirements for automotive applications.

Practical Notes

  1. Wind turbine power output scales with wind speed cubed; a 6 m/s site generates 1.5 MW (4.2× more than 3 m/s location) for identical 2 MW rated capacity machines due to Cp efficiency variation
  2. Solar panel temperature coefficient (-0.4%/°C for silicon) reduces output 20% in 60°C desert conditions versus 25°C STC baseline; use irradiance sensor data and thermal imaging to validate model predictions
  3. Battery round-trip efficiency decreases 3-5% annually under fast-charging (>2C rate); simulate calendar aging at 35°C for stationary storage versus vehicle duty cycles for accurate 10-year LCOE projections
